The Idea
A poor choice creates a next problem to solve; it does not define the child. The adult’s work is to protect people, stop continuing harm, and decide what repair or consequence is connected, proportionate, and actually within the child’s capacity.
Not every uncomfortable outcome needs an added penalty. Sometimes the natural result teaches enough. Sometimes safety, another person’s loss, or a consequence too large for a child requires adult intervention. The aim is honest cause and effect plus a path back into responsible action.
